I am pleased to be joining Heirloom after nearly five years of experience in the world of comprehensive personal financial planning with firms in my hometown of Denver and also in Minneapolis. Being a true “people person,” I see personal financial planning as a way of helping people with one of the most challenging and important aspects of their lives – their finances. I have been fortunate to witness my father, Bruce, form close relationships with our clients in the process of helping them reach their financial goals. We start each of these relationships thinking about how we can help our clients best, and we act as fiduciaries, meaning we are required to put their best interests ahead of our own.
I started my financial planning journey attending Virginia Tech in 2014, being admitted into the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) Board Registered Program. This program was a transformative experience for me, as I was able to take dedicated classes in each of the major financial planning topic areas: retirement planning, investments, income tax, insurance, estate planning, budgeting, and education planning. I was also active in (and served as president of) the student chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), one of the largest networks for our profession around the country.
Upon graduation in May 2018, I relocated to Minneapolis and joined Summit Wealth Advocates, LLC as an Associate Financial Advisor. This firm was a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA), similar in structure and size to Heirloom. Here, I learned the business directly from the principals of the firm, who had both been advisors for decades. I studied for and passed the comprehensive CFP® examination on my first attempt in July 2019. In May 2020, I reached the 2-year experience requirement needed to officially attain the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Designation and I was promoted to Financial Advisor. I went on to be the lead in more than 40 financial planning client relationships at Summit Wealth Advocates before leaving the firm in July 2021 to return to the Denver metro area. I continued this work with Bruce in serving all clients of our previous RIA firm, Potter Financial Solutions, before our partnership with Heirloom Wealth Management began in late 2022. Additionally, I continue to have an active role in FPA, which allows me to collaborate and share strategies with my colleagues to the benefit of our clients.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling abroad as well as being active in the great outdoors of Colorado, especially biking, hiking, skiing, and camping. Aside from being in the outdoors, my hobbies include going to live music venues, movie theaters, and sporting events, as well as playing games and spending time with friends and family.
